MECHANICSBURG - Every team that makes the state playoffs knows their season is going to end in tears, and for only one team those will be tears of joy. Two years ago Conner Rude’s friends convinced him to come out for tennis in the spring. Last Saturday, Rude was representing Loyalsock at the District 4 Singles Championships after earning a trip there thanks to a productive second season playing tennis.
Loyalsock fought for three hours in the spring sun. The Lancers made crucial plays in the air, on the ground, and while batting. Despite their efforts, it was not enough to overcome Warrior Run’s stellar defense as they fell to them 7-6.

She had the determination of getting at least one more RBI before the Lancers would 10-run-rule the Hughesville Spartans. She had a perfect ball down the middle and hit it to centerfield and over the fence. She had gotten a two-run home run and her second RBI of the game, getting one of the final runs to win over Hughesville 14-2.
By BRETT R. CROSSLEY For the Loyalsock Lancers WILLIAMSPORT—Jake Bomboy decided to go out for tennis this year over baseball. The transition is not easy. Tennis involves a completely different mindset. Bomboy is starting to adapt and learn as he continues to be a strong player for the Lancers. Bomboy used his serve to pick up points and overpowered Montoursville’s Ben Watts when he needed to finish off a 6-4 7-5 win. The victory was crucial as both doubles teams won to give Loyalsock a slim 3-2 win over the Warriors.
It was a quick eight laps as Loyalsock’s Isabell Sagar nearly chased down the entire group of male runners during the 3,200 Wednesday at Central Columbia. Sagar cruised to wins in both the 1,600 and 3,200, posting times of 5:23.11 and 10:32.09. The wins helped secure a victory for the Lancers, who defeated Central Columbia 105-45 to pick up the dual meet win. The boys fell to Central Columbia 112-38.
