Troy led by 12 at the half but struggled to score in the second half as Waverly rallied for the 68-64 win during non-league boys' basketball action Saturday.
The Trojans used a 21-9 second quarter run to take a 42-30 lead into the locker rooms. The tables turned in the third as Waverly out scored Troy 22-9 to go up 52-51 going into the final frame.
In the fourth the Wolverines edged Troy 16-13.
Trey Teribury racked up 26 points, seven boards, five steals, and three blocks for the Trojans as Pryor Teribury added 13 points.
Spencer Martin had 10 points to go with four boards, and five assists, with Josiah Pesesky getting seven points, nine boards, three assists, and three blocks.
Evan Allen notched four points, Landon Cole had three, with Cameron Morey rounding things out with one point.
Hogan Shaw had 29 to lead Waverly with Braiden Judson adding 20.
It was 21-all after the first quarter with Martin netting eight, and Trey five to pace Troy, while Shaw and Judson combined for 19 of their team’s 21 points.
Trey went off in the second quarter, scoring 15 as the Trojans extended their lead to double digits.
In the third Troy was held to just three made field goals while Judson racked up nine points to lead the Waverly comeback.
Offenses slowed down in the fourth, though Trey hit two 3-balls, with Waverly getting six from Shaw to pull out the win.
Troy (5-3) travels to Towanda on Tuesday.
