Lady Hornets Down Williamson In 4 Sets

Wellsboro took the first two sets before dropping the third in a 3-1 NTL crossover victory against Williamson.
Their 3rd set defeat was only the fourth set the Lady Hornets have lost to start the 2026 season.
The Lady Hornets cruised to a 25-9 win in the first set before Williamson closed the gap and made the next three sets tightly contested. Wellsboro won the second set 25-22. Williamson then won 29-27 in bonus play before Wellsboro closed out the game with a 25-22 win in the fourth set.
Senior Ellie Largey scored a team-high 22 points, senior Madison Cruttenden made 40 digs and junior Peyton Keane had 15 kills. Juniors Kendall Sweet and Adelyn Frantz both had 11 kills, Keane and junior Jillian Mickey had 14 digs apiece, Largey made 23 assists and Mickey had a team-high 25 assists.
Frantz and senior Blake Eckart added 2 blocks.
Wellsboro swept the JV game 2-0, winning 25-19 and 25-13 to improve to 4-1.
The win in the Varsity game improves the Lady Hornets to 4-1 (4-1 NTL Large School Division). The team looks for their fourth straight win Thursday evening when they welcome Athens to town.
