The Wellsboro Varsity Boys Basketball team used a 20-point 1st quarter to defeat Cowanesque Valley, 54-47, to end a 3-game losing streak on Friday in Westfield.
"Nice win with a couple of guys out sick," said head coach Ron Doughtie. "Fletcher and Jonathan carried us early, but the whole team pulled us through. We had some young guys step up and give us good minutes which we needed with some foul trouble."

Junior Colin Fletcher scored a game-high 22 points while sophomore Griffin Morral and freshman James Doughtie added 8 points apiece. Carl finished with 7 points, junior Gideon Lawton chipped in 5, and senior Marek Mascho added 4 points.
Carl grabbed 13 boards and blocked 3 shots, Mascho pulled down 8 rebounds and made 3 assists, Fletcher added 7 boards also blocked 3 shots, and Lawton had 5 boards and made 5 assists. Doughtie also contributed 4 rebounds and blocked two shots.
