Canton Rallies Past Athens, 31-25

ATHENS - Canton closed the game strong, and rallied for a 31-25 win over Athens here Tuesday night in NTL girls basketball action.

The first quarter was a defensive struggle and the Warriors led 5-4 after the opening eight minutes.

Freshman Alexis Mayo scored seven points in the second quarter, including a late 3-pointer as the Wildcats used a 13-9 spurt to take a 17-14 lead into the halftime locker room.

The defenses took over again in the third quarter, and Canton trimmed a point of its defense. Athens led 22-20 heading into the final eight minutes.
