Troy girls' soccer clinched their sixth straight NTL title on Tuesday, and this season they finished it off before October, as they defeated Towanda 5-0.
Giana Renzi had a hat trick to lead Troy with Saydi Renzo and Alexis McRoberts each scoring a goal. Kylee Roy had two assists, with Parker Lee and Mallory Chamberlin both adding helpers.
"It's always a great feeling to win a title," said McRoberts. "Having put in the effort for four years now to bring home the NTL title each year is such a great feeling, and just our hard work showing off. We wouldn't have been able to do it without everyone putting in their best effort in practices and in games. I'm so beyond proud of my team, and the girls who have stepped up into new positions this year."
Troy out shot Towanda 25-3 and had an 8-1 edge in corner kicks.
The Knights kept it tight early, as Troy didn’t find the back of the net until 7:49 left in the first half when Renzo scored for a 1-0 lead at the break.
Renzi got her first with 27:07 left in the second half off a Roy assist. Less than 10 minutes later Renzi nabbed her second off of Chamberlain's assist.
With 10:21 to play McRoberts scored off a Roy helper, then Renzi got the hat trick a minute later off a Lee assist.
Kendal Cook made15 saves in net for Towanda as Izzy Renzi had eight saves for the clean sheet.
