Troy Girls Fend Off Wyalusing For 4th Straight Win

Troy took a lead in the second quarter and never gave it up as they held off Wyalusing, 49-39, during NTL girls' hoops action.
Kyah Renzo had 20 points as Raelynne Woodward netted 13, and Izzy Renzi scored eight. Giana Renzi, and Haidyn Watson scored four points apiece.
It was a good start for the Rams as they led 7-2 halfway through the first thanks to a 3-ball and put back from Botts, while Morningstar hit a lay-up off a Johns pass.
A Renzo 3-pointer cut it to 7-5, but Botts hit a freebie to make it 8-5 Wyalusing.
The Trojans ended the quarter strong as Watson and Woodward had put backs, followed by a Renzo steal and bucket to put the Trojans up 11-2.
Wyalusing responded early in the second with Morningstar scoring on a Botts assist, followed by a Fowler runner to put the Rams back on top 12-11. A Johns free throw made it a 2-point Wyalusing lead.
Then came the run that allowed Troy to take control of the game as they went on a 9-0 spurt to go up 20-13.
Renzo hit a reverse lay-up to start things off, followed by a put back from Watson. Watson then assisted on a Giana Renzi bucket, followed by Giana finding her sister Izzy for a lay-up.
Izzy then went 1-of-2 from the line for the 7-point lead.
Kilmer came off the bench ready and hit back to back 3-balls to cut it to 20-19, but a Renzo 3-pointer made it a 23-19 at the half.
The two teams traded buckets to start the second half, then Troy went 3-for-4 from the free throw line to extend their lead to 28-21.
A Morningstar put back made it a 5-point game, but a 4-0 run by Izzy saw Troy go back up by nine.
After a Botts free throw the Trojans made it a 10-point contest with a Giana lay-up.
However, Botts would get to the free throw line twice after that, going 4-for-4, then she had a driving lay-up late to make it a 35-30 game going into the fourth.
Woodward would get a bucket to start the final frame, but Botts answered with a lay-up of her own.
An old fashion 3-point play from Renzo saw Troy extend their lead to 40-32, but Wyalusing hung tough as Morningstar hit Johns for a bucket.
Izzy then found Renzo for a basket, only for Botts hit another lay-up to make it a 6-point game.
That's when Renzo asserted herself one more time, hitting back to back baskets to make it a 10-point contest in the final minutes of the game.
