A run scoring Marlee Stanton double in the top of the sixth was the difference in Troy's 2-1 win over Northwest during District IV, Class AA softball semifinal action Saturday.
Both teams scored a run in the third before Stanton’s hit in the sixth.
Freshman Erinn Knapp got the win, striking out seven with no walks, five hits, and one earned run for the Trojans.
Lauren Ridall (1-for-4) and Lauren Reed (1-for-2) scored both Trojan runs as Stanton (1-for-3) had an RBI. Olivia Champluvier (1-for-3) and Kali Ayres (1-for-3) also had hits.
In the third Ridall led off with a hit, then scored on an error off the bat of Ayres after stealing second.
The Rangers used a 2-out double to tie the game in the bottom half of the inning.
The two teams were even until the sixth when Reed hit a 1-out single. After stealing second Stanton took the first offering to left field for the 2-out game winning hit.
Knapp retired 11 straight to end the game.
Troy will now face defending district champion South Williamsport in the title game on Tuesday with a 5 p.m. start back down at Elm Park.
