Shooting Woes Plague Athens In 55-38 Loss At Wellsboro

WELLSBORO - Wellsboro built a 10-point first-quarter lead, then blew the game wide open in the third quarter on its way to a 55-38 win over Athens here Saturday afternoon in NTL Large School boys basketball action.

The Wildcats shot 29.5 percent (13 of 44) from the field, and just 16 percent (3 of 18) from behind the 3-point arc, while turning the ball over 18 times. They also made just 50 percent (9 of 18) of their free throws.

"The effort is there and for that I am proud of them," said Athens coach Jim Lister. "Effort is not our problem. The kids work hard."
