Alyssa Parks ended her high school track and field career on the state podium Saturday, taking sixth in the PIAA, Class AA girls’ 300 hurdles.

“It feels amazing,” said Parks. “I pretty much knew I already had the medal secure, but I wanted higher than an eighth place medal.”

The senior came in seeded seventh and ran a 47.47 to take sixth. She came into states seeded 12th, so ended up moving up six spots.

“It was kind of nerve-racking, but at the same time it made me push myself,” Parks said about running with the state’s best. “I feel pretty good about it, it feels like I achieved everything I dreamed of.”

Parks will now focus on her new career at Mansfield University, and she plans on being very busy there, as well, with maybe even the pentathlon in her future.

“I’m definitely going to lift a lot more, and just get my miles underneath me,” said Parks.

In the Class AA boys’ shot put Avery Sens took 17th with a throw of 48-feet, 9-inches.
