Palmer, Austin Medal At Southern Tier Memorial Tournament

ELMIRA, N.Y. — Troy had two medalists at the Southern Tier Memorial Tournament on Saturday.

Carter Austin (152) took fifth, while Reed Palmer (285) came in sixth.

Austin got a fall to win his blood round match, then followed that up with a 10-4 decision in the consolation quarterfinals. He then lost 8-1 there, but rallied to win with a 4-1 sudden victory in the fifth place match over Watertown's Paul Ortega.

Austin finished 5-2 over the tournament.

Palmer was pinned in his semifinal match, falling to the consolations. He then got pinned in the consolation semifinals, moving to the fifth place match.

There, he lost to Wyoming's Nate Obrzut 7-1 in tie-breaker to take sixth, going 2-3 during the tournament.

Rylan Breidt lost his blood round match by tech fall, going 4-2 over the weekend.

Garret Parks (108), and Keagan Kerr (131) both went 2-2, while Logunn Heasley (138) went 1-2. Connor Dibble (114), and Bridon Putnam (160) both went 0-2.
