The Wellsboro Varsity Wrestling team earned their first NTL win of the season as they edged Northeast Bradford, 25-24, on Wednesday, February 5.

MANSFIELD - North Penn-Mansfield jumped out to a 10-point first quarter lead en route to a 67-46 win over Athens here Wednesday night in NTL Large School boys basketball action.

ATHENS - Sophomores Brayden Pettitt and Eli Hicks, and senior Ethan Hicks won four events apiece to lead the Athens boys to a 106-50 win over Bloomsburg, while juniors Evelyn Panek and Olivia Thompson were triple-winners to lead the Lady Wildcats to a 90-59 win here Thursday in non-league swimming & diving action.

The Wellsboro Swim teams each picked up victories over Mifflinburg as they took part in a quad meet at Williamsport on Tuesday.

ATHENS - Athens scored the first 14 points the game, then fended off a North Penn-Mansfield second-half comeback attempt in a 47-40 win here Tuesday night in NTL Large School Division girls basketball action.

In a game of wild swings the Warriors came up just short in their non-league boys' hoops game, falling to Montgomery 44-35.

The Trojans got a shutout win over Loyalsock, 58-0, during non-league wrestling action Monday.

WILLIAMSPORT - Senior Emma Renninger was Athens' lone champion, but seven of her teammates also reached the podium to lead the Wildcats to a second-place finish here Saturday afternoon at the Williamsport Girls Wrestling Showcase.

The Wellsboro Girls Wrestling team finished 14th overall at Saturday's Williamsport Showcase and had two 5th place finishers.
