Junior Marek Mascho threw a four-hit shutout, and struck out four batters, as the Wellsboro Varsity Baseball team shutout Sayre 17-0 in three innings on Wednesday.
"We had a nice team win tonight with contributions throughout the lineup," said head coach Kyle Smith. "Marek did a good job throwing strikes and we played solid defensively, getting out of a few jams."
The Hornets got out of the gate quick, posting 12 runs in the 1st and adding 5 more in the 2nd to close out the game.
Seniors Gabe Sprouse and Alec Magli scored 3 runs apiece, while Mascho and senior Ryder Bowen scored twice. Sophomore Coen Tennis, junior Cameron Owlett, freshman Gabe Cuneo, sophomore Max Mascho, freshman Griffin Morral, and sophomore Syler Pietrzyk added the remaining runs.
Marek Mascho was 3-for-3 at the plate and drove in 3 runs, Magli finished 2-for-2 at the plate with 3 RBIs, and senior Dustin Owlett and Morral were both 1-for-1 with Morral driving in 2 runs. Cameron Owlett was also 1-for-2 and drove in a pair of runs.
