The Wellsboro Varsity Volleyball team started their season with a 3-0 sweep of Canton in NTL cross-over play on Tuesday, August 26.
After a close first set, which Wellsboro won 25-21, the Lady Hornets dominated the 2nd set, winning 25-9. Wellsboro then closed out the match with a 25-13 win in the 3rd set.
Sophomore Kendall Sweet led Wellsboro with 16 points and 4 aces while junior Ellie Largey had 12 points and 2 aces. She also made 22 assists. Sophomore Adelyn Frantz had 9 kills, junior Blake Eckart had 8 kills and 4 digs, and sophomore Peyton Keane had 6 kills.
Sweet also had 5 kills and junior Madison Cruttenden made 6 digs.
Wellsboro started the evening with a 2-1 win in the JV game. Wellsboro took the first set 25-7, lost the 2nd 25-18, then cruised to a 15-3 3rd set win.
Wellsboro (1-0, 1-0 NTL) travels to Sayre Thursday.
