The Wellsboro Girls Wrestling team finished 14th overall at Saturday's Williamsport Showcase and had two 5th place finishers.
Freshman Isla Twoey and junior Jordan Rumsey both brought home 5th place finishes, Towey at 100 lbs. and Rumsey at 112 lbs.
Twoey started the tournament with a loss to Hughesville's Julia Ritter by pin fall in the quarterfinals. She later defeated Athens' Hailey Brinkley by a 17-2 tech fall in the 3rd round of consolation matches, then fell to Danville's Juliet Steckley by a 6-1 decision in the consolation semis. She won her 5th place match over Mifflinburg's Autumn Dersham with a 2:33 pin.
Rumsey won her quarterfinal match against Sugar Valley's Kohana Yamashita in 2:20 before falling to Athens' Emma Renninger in 40 seconds in the semi-finals. Hughesville's McKenna Sones pinned Rumnsey in 1:59 in the consolation semis before she pinned Mechanicsburg's Hannah Nguyen in 39 seconds.
Senior Megan Robbins won two matches on the day, starting with a 2:41 pin against CMVT's Piper Karcher in the 1st round, she then lost to Athens' Hanna Rathbun in a 1:03 pin in the quarterfinals. Robbins won a 11-9 decision over Central Mountain's Mallory Wunder in the second round consolation. She later fell to Jersey Shore's Olivia Spotts by tech fall in the 3rd consolation round.
Freshman Katie Whitney also scored a 57 second pin against Bellefonte's Ella Johnsonbaugh in the opening round.
The Lady Hornets join the boys on Tuesday for their Senior Night match against Jersey Shore.
