Lady Hornets Fall 12-2 To Hughesville

The Wellsboro Varsity Softball team fell 12-2 in 6 innings to Hughesville on Wednesday, May 7.

The Lady Hornets jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead after the top of the 1st after a lead-off single from freshman Adelyn Frantz. She later scored on an RBI-single from senior Paige Logsdon, who later scored on a throwing error.

Hughesville added a run in the bottom half of the inning to cut the lead in half en route to 12 straight runs. The Lady Spartans did the majority of their damage in the middle innings, plating 5 runs in the 3rd and 4 in the 4th, before adding single runs in both the 5th and 6th innings.

Logsdon led Wellsboro at the plate, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base. Frantz finished 1-for-3 and freshman Hannah Taylor went 1-for-2.

Frantz pitched 5 & 1/3 innings, allowing 12 runs (5 earned) on 10 hits with 6 walks and 5 strikeouts.

Hughesville also won a 5 inning JV game, 12-2. Sophomore Kaelyn Peterson was 2-for-3 and freshman Zoey Roosa was 1-for-3.

The loss drops the Varsity team to 4-9 overall. The Lady Hornets are on the road this afternoon at Canton.
