The Wellsboro Junior High Volleyball team suffered a 2-1 loss to rival North Penn-Liberty Wednesday at home.
The Lady Mounties edged the young Lady Hornets 25-23 in the first set, however Wellsboro rallied to edged out Liberty 26-24 in the second to tie things up. Liberty took the third set 15-6 to close out the match.
Rachel Weaver led Wellsboro at the service line, scoring 14 points (6) while adding 4 digs. Taeber Rodriguez added 8 points (3 aces) and a dig, Alexis Dunning had 2 assists and a dig, Reese Eckart made 3 digs and a kill, Nora Mickey had 2 kills, and Alayna Richards added 2 digs.
Mickey and Kyerra Heck added one dig apiece.
Wellsboro won the B game 2-0: 25-11 and 25:13. Emma McConaghy scored 9 points with 7 aces and Leah Szentesy had 7 points and 5 aces.
The Lady Hornets (7-4) travel to Troy Saturday morning.
