The Wellsboro Varsity Baseball team made quick work of visiting Wyalusing on Friday, shutting out the Rams 16-0 in three innings for their second win in a row.
"The team played solid defense and the lineup produced from the start of the game," head coach Kyle Smith said. "Thankfully, the weather allowed us to get the game in tonight."
The Hornets had 9 hits in the game and scored 8 runs in both the 1st and 2nd innings.
Seniors Gabe Sprouse, Alec Magli and Dustin Owlett, juniors Marek Mascho and Cameron Owlett, and sophomores Coen Tennis and Max Mascho scored twice while senior Ryder Bowen and freshman Gabe Cuneo added solo runs.
Tennis and Cameron Owlett were 2-for-2 at the plate, Marek Mascho was 2-for-3, Max Mascho and Dustin Owlett were 1-for-1, and Magli was 1-for-2. Magli and Cameron Owlett drove in 3 runs, Marek Mascho, Max Mascho and Dustin Owlett drove in 2 runs each, and Tennis also drove in a run.
Sprouse threw 2 innings for the win, giving up just one hit and striking out two. Marek Mascho also threw an inning, striking out one and walking one.
Wellsboro evens their record up at 8-8 (7-5 NTL Large School Division). They hit the road to take on Shikellamy at Bloomsburg High School this afternoon.
