The Wellsboro Varsity Boys Basketball team won their 3rd straight game, a nail biting 51-48 contest, over Towanda on Thursday, January 9.
"Tonight was a good team win, especially with a starter out sick," head coach Ron Doughtie said. "We played good defense and limited our turnovers. I was very happy with the team energy we brought from the start of the game to the end."
The Hornets trailed 12-11 after the opening quarter, then rallied to out score the Black Knights 16-11 before the half to lead 27-23. Wellsboro again outscored Towanda in the 3rd quarter, 12-9, to pad their lead at 39-32 heading into the final quarter.
Towanda saved their best quarter for last, but Wellsboro was able to survive the rally attempt, despite being outscored 16-12, to hold on for the win.

Freshman Griffin Morral and sophomore Max Mascho added 6 points apiece, junior Jonathan Carl scored 5 points, and sophomore Ethan Keane and junior Marek Mascho chipped in 4 points each.
