Hornets Beat Athens 2-1 In Unified Bocce Home Opener

Wellsboro started their 2024-25 Unified Bocce Ball season with a 2-1 win over Athens on Monday, January 6.
"It was exciting to come out with a win in our first bocce match of the season," head coach Jacob Rogers said. "The team remained positive throughout the match and displayed that during their comeback!"
Athens won the first game 7-4, scoring one point each in the 1st and 3rd frames, 2 points in the 6th and then 3 in the 7th. Wellsboro scored one point in the 2nd, 2 in the 4th and 1 point in the 5th.
The Hornets then rallied to defeat the Wildcats 9-3 in the 2nd game to even the score up at 1-all. The Hornets took a commanding 6-0 lead, scoring 2 points in the first three frames before Athens cut the score in half with 3 points over the 4th and 5th frames. Wellsboro then scored one point in the 6th and added 2 in the 7th to close out the win.
Wellsboro closed out the match, winning the Golden Frame, 4-0, to claim their first win of the season.
Wellsboro (1-0) takes on Williamson next Monday at Williamson.
