Wellsboro Boys Soccer head coach Todd Fitch earned his 100th career victory as his team shut out Towanda 5-0 Saturday.

Fitch becomes the 2nd boys soccer head coach to reach the milestone as former head coach John Shaffer (2010-2017) compiled 110 wins during his career.

"The boys put together a solid performance. Their shots on goal to goals scored average was up by 35% compared to Thursday's match versus Troy and our defenders and keepers earned another clean sheet. It was a complete team effort today."

The Hornets scored a pair of early goals as senior Jonathan Carl and junior Coen Tennis both found the back of the net. Carl, assisted by junior Mason Brill, scored with 36:04 left in the opening half and Tennis added his goal, unassisted, just over two minutes later.

Carl struck again in the 2nd half just over four and a half minutes in off an assist from senior Jacoby Strang to push the lead to 3-0. Strang then scored the last two goals (the first with 16:26 left and the 2nd with 11:54 remaining). Junior Peter Doan assisted on Strang's first goal and Carl pitched in on the second.

Wellsboro doubled up the Black Knights on shots (10-5) and had a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks. Senior Camden Tom stopped two shots while junior Kayden Rogers made a save in the 2nd half.

Wellsboro won the JV game 6-0. Freshmen James Doughtie, Gage Baltzley, and Liam Stevens (2) along with sophomores Xavier Lecker and Brayden Benjamin all found the back of the net. Lecker (2) and Doughtie added assists.

Wellsboro travels to Northeast Bradford Wednesday.
