Troy pushed two wrestlers on to the Northeast Regional Championships at the District IV, Class AA Championships Saturday.

Carter Austin (160) took fifth, with Reed Palmer (285) coming in seventh.

"I'm really proud of Reed and Carter," said Troy's coach Garrett Wesneski. "They both put in the time, and they wanted to win. They want to be here, and it started to pay off."

After a rough day Friday Wesneski looked to reset the kids for Saturday.

"As a staff, Carter and I, we talked to them when we got back to the hotel, all the boys, that today was over," he explained. "Tomorrow everyone's got to win, find a way to win two and make it on to the next week."

Austin went 3-2 on the weekend. After taking an opening loss Friday he came back with a 10-5 win in the elimination round, and 4-1 decision in the consolation quarterfinals.

He fell 17-1 in the consolation semifinals, but then beat NEB’s Kale Howland 10-4 in the fifth place match to advance.

After going 1-1 on Friday Palmer went 2-1 Saturday to take seventh and advance.

He opened with a 4-2 win in the elimination round, then lost 4-2 in the consolation quarterfinals. In the seventh place match he pinned Shamokin's Robert Whitmer in 4:15 to move on.

Keagan Kerr (133) and Ryland Breidt (172) both went 0-2.
