Mason Abplanalp scored three touchdowns in the Wellsboro Junior High Football team's 34-20 loss to Muncy on Thursday, October 10.
The young Hornets trailed 8-0 at the half, and found themselves trailing Muncy 14-0 after the Indians' opening second half drive. Wellsboro then matched the Indians score for score, but were unable to dig themselves out of the 14-point hole.
Abplanalp scored a pair of rushing touchdowns and also returned a kickoff for a score. Ian Ingerick and Christian Main also connected on a two-point pass for the Hornets.
"I was really proud of the effort and physicality today," head coach Shane Mascho said. "Mason really started to flash in practice this week and it was nice to see him carry that into the game."
Wellsboro (0-6) takes on rival North Penn-Mansfield in their season finale next Thursday.
