The Wellsboro Varsity Softball team dropped their 2nd straight game to Towanda in as many days, falling 13-1 in 5 innings on Tuesday, April 30.
Towanda's bats didn't have time to cool off after their Monday meeting, as they scored 4 runs in the first inning to take the early lead. They added 2 runs in both the 2nd and 3rd innings one in the 4th and then 4 more in the 5th.
Wellsboro's lone run came in the 5th inning as freshman Bailee Confer led off with a base hit then later crossed home plate after advancing to scoring position off two wild pitches. Confer's hit was the only hit in the game for the Lady Hornets.
Junior Paige Logsdon started on the mound and threw the first 5 & 1/3 innings. She allowed 13 runs on 13 hits with 6 walks and 2 strikeouts. Confer came in for the final 1/3 of an inning. She walked two and struck out one.
The loss drops Wellsboro to 3-10 (1-10 NTL Large School Division). The team is back in action on Friday at Wyalusing.
