Wellsboro survived a late rally by Canton to win 12-11 and earn their 4th win of the season on Tuesday, May 7.

The back-and-forth game started out with the Lady Warriors scoring two runs in the top of the 1st, but the Lady Hornets answered in the bottom half of the inning. A lead-off triple from junior Arianah Lawton got things started for the Lady Hornets then senior Abby Owlett doubled to score Lawton. Owlett crossed home plate one at-bat later as junior Paige Logsdon homered, putting Wellsboro in front, 3-2.

Wellsboro held Canton scoreless in the 2nd, then proceeded to increase their lead. Freshman Bailee Confer and sophomore Harleigh Cleveland both reached base on error, Lawton was hit by a pitch, then Owlett singled and Wellsboro found themselves in front, 7-2.

Canton got one run back in the top of the 3rd to cut it to 7-3, but again the Lady Hornets answered in the bottom half of the inning. Sophomore LeAnna Fuentes and junior Madelynn Losinger both scored after drawing back-to-back walks to put Wellsboro up 9-3.

After a scoreless 4th inning, the Lady Warriors began their rally efforts in the 5th. Canton added 4 runs in the top of the 5th to cut the lead to 9-7. A Fuentes double in the next at-bat scored Logsdon and Del Rio putting Wellsboro back in front. Fuentes later scored on a Confer base hit.

Trailing 12-9 heading into the 7th, the Lady Warriors mounted their final rally attempt and nearly forced Wellsboro to bat in the bottom half of the inning.
