Sophomore Lauren Kosek set a new season personal best with a 4th place finish at the PIAA Foundation Invite in Hershey on Saturday, September 21.
Kosek and teammate freshman Luisa Crocco both participated in the 2A girls race for Wellsboro.
Kosek was 4th overall, out of 192 runners, in 19:40 on a hilly course.
"It was really good to be able to be able to see the States course in advance to the State Championship in November," Kosek said. "Our goal was top 20 and I was super excited to get top 5. It was a big confidence boost, as I felt great throughout the entire race and was super happy with the results. The Hershey course is known to be very difficult and hilly, and it was crazy that I was able to come away with a 5k PR. Luisa ran super well also!!
"Overall it was a super fun day and the Lady Hornets were really successful!!"
Crocco was 186th overall in 33:17.
Wellsboro returns to full strength Tuesday against Wyalusing and Athens.
