The Wellsboro Boys Soccer teams each scored shut outs en route to a pair of wins at Jersey Shore to open their season win on Monday, August 26.

"We've been plagued by some injuries and sickness to start the season, which had us missing three of our seniors tonight," said head coach Todd Fitch. "With that said, we were glad to have players who could step in and make an impact."

Junior Jude Cuneo scored the Hornets' first goal of the season with 9:33 remaining in the first half, off an assist from senior Alex Citrino.

Wellsboro held their 1-0 lead until they struck again with 3:36 left in the game on a direct kick by junior David Seeling made it 2-0 in favor of the Hornets. The team's final goal came with 49 seconds remaining as senior River Moyer found sophomore Mason Brill in front of the goal.

Wellsboro took 11 shots on goal to the Bulldogs' 8 and both teams had 3 corner kicks apiece.

Junior Camden Tom recorded a clean sheet, making six saves in goal.

In the JV game, the Hornets also shut out the Bulldogs, winning 7-0. Freshman Gabe Cuneo recorded a hat trick while sophomore Dylan Tomlinson, freshman RJ Doughtie (assisted by freshman Brayden Benjamin), freshman Octavian Wyman, and freshman Xavier Lecker added solo goals.
