Wellsboro scored four 1st half goals en route to a 7-1 win over Galeton on Wednesday, October 2.

The win also clinches the NTL title for the Hornets, their third straight and their 4th in five years.

"The boys did a good job limiting Galeton's looks at goal and continued to create and finish their scoring opportunities, including set pieces," said head coach Todd Fitch. "That combination usually leads to good results."

The win was also Fitch's 90th of his Varsity boys career.

Wellsboro jumped out to a 3-0 lead on goals by junior David Seeling, senior Alex Citrino, and senior River Moyer. Galeton's Trey Sykora scored the Tigers' only goal with 5:24 remaining in the first half. Citrino scored for the second time with 1:22 left in the half to make it a 4-1 in favor of Wellsboro.

Junior Mason Nowak kicked off the scoring for Wellsboro in the 2nd half, striking just under three minutes in. Senior Micaiah Fitch scored with 36:40 remaining, then Citrino struck for the third time with 13:32 left to play.

The Hornets out shot Galeton 19-2 on the evening and had a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Junior Camden Tom recorded 1 save in goal.

Galeton won a modified (9-on-9) JV game, 4-2. Sophomore Dylan Tomlinson and freshman Xavier Lecker scored for the Hornets while sophomores Jacob Smith and Peter Doan assisted.

Wellsboro (12-1, 10-0 NTL) plays a JV-only game at St. John Neumann on Monday and return to full play on Tuesday, October 8 against Northeast Bradford.
