The Wellsboro Boys Soccer team suffered their first loss of the season in overtime to Milton on Saturday, September 7.

"We didn't get the final goal we needed to win the game, but I am so proud of this team," said head coach Todd Fitch. "Their desire, execution, and the grit they showed till the final whistle."

Prior to Saturday's contest the Hornets only allowed one goal in their 5-game win streak. Milton took the early advantage on a Kade Ficks goal just under 3 minutes into the game. The score remained 1-0 in favor of the Black Panthers until senior Alex Citrino struck with 26:11 remaining in regulation, off a pass from senior Micaiah Fitch, to knot the score at 1-all.

Mitlon scored midway through the first overtime period for the game-winner, handing the Hornets their first loss on the season.

The Hornets edged Milton 8-7 in shots on goal but the Black Panthers had a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Junior Camden Tom recorded 2 saves in goal.

The JV game ended in a scoreless tie.

The loss drops Wellsboro to 5-1 on the year. The team is back in action on Tuesday at Williamson.
