The Wellsboro Track & Field teams hosted Sayre and Wyalusing on Tuesday, April 16. Both teams swept the field, earning a pair of wins during Senior Night.
The Lady Hornets scored 112.5 points en route to their third 1st place finish of the year. Wyalusing finished 2nd with 63.5 points and Sayre came home 3rd with 13. On the boys side, Wellsboro won with 99 points followed by Wyalusing (54) and Sayre (36).
Freshman Piper Hoprich set a new school record in the 100m with a time of 12.44. Sophomore Sophia Yoder (13.20) and sophomore Jordan Rumsey (13.40) finished 2nd and 3rd. Hoprich (26.70) and Yoder (28.20) took the top two spots in the 200m, and senior Maddy Mascho (1:11.10) won the 400m. Freshman Lauren Kosek swept the distance events, winning the 800m in 2:40.10, the 1600m in 5:46.40 and the 3200m in 12:22.20.
Senior Sara Seeling (17.70), sophomore Taylor Main (19.70) and sophomore Kristina Belz (20.00) took 2nd-4th in the 100m hurdles and Seeling (55.60) and Main (57.70) were 2nd and 3rd in the 300m hurdles.
The Lady Hornets won all three relays, taking the 4x100m in 52.30, the 4x400m in 4:29.40, and the 4x800m in 12:15.90.
Junior Annie Gehman swept the jumping events, winning the high jump at 4-ft, 11, the long jump at 15-ft, 7.75, and the triple at 34-ft, 2.5. Freshman Ella Boyce took 2nd in the high jump (4-ft, 11) and 2nd in the long jump (13-ft, 7.75). Sophomore Brooke Wheeler (6-ft, 6) and freshman Ellie Largey (6-ft, 6) finished 2nd and 3rd in the pole vault, and freshman Megan Newruck (27-ft, 5) took 3rd in the triple jump.
Senior Grace Harlan (30-ft, 4.5) won the shot put, senior Hannah Gilmour threw 87-ft to win the discus, and Wellsboro took the top 5 spots in the javelin with junior Paige Logsdon (98-ft, 10), Seeling (91-ft, 9.5), freshman Caelyn Reese (75-ft, 9), senior Hannalee Cleveland (75-ft, 5.5) and freshman Blake Eckart (71-ft, 6) placing.
In the boys meet sophomore Jonathan Carl (11.40), junior Jack Bryant (11.50) and sophomore Jacoby Strang (11.70) were 2nd-4th in the 100m, Bryant (23.90) and junior Micaiah Fitch (24.70) were 2nd and 3rd in the 200m, and Carl (53.60) and sophomore Josiah Ens (1:02.30) were 2nd and 3rd in the 400m.
Sophomore Jude Cuneo won the 800m (2:16.10) and the 1600m (5:14.80), and sophomore Henry Whitney (12:27.50) and sophomore Karter Campbell (14:50.30) were 3rd and 4th in the 3200m.
Junior Micah Vickery swept the hurdles, winning the 110m in 16.30 and the 300m in 42.90. Sophomore David Seeling was 3rd in the 110m hurdles (18.00) and 2nd in the 300m hurdles (44.60), and senior Nehemiah Burrous took 4th in both the 110m hurdles (19.30) and 300m hurdles (50.70).
Wellsboro won the 4x100m in 46.30, was 2nd in the 4x400m (4:11.20) and 2nd in the 4x800m (9:33.80).
Seeling (5-ft, 10) was 2nd in the high jump with Vickery (5-ft, 8) in 3rd, junior Gabe Carpenter (10-ft, 6) was 2nd in the pole vault, Fitch (18-ft, 7.5) won the long jump, and Carl (36-ft, 8) and Fitch (36-ft, 4) were 2nd and 3rd in the triple jump.
Senior Watson Feil (36-ft, 8) was 2nd in the shot put, senior Noah Morey (137-ft, 6) and Feil (107-ft, 1.5) were 1st and 2nd in the discus with junior Levi Stone (85-ft, 10) taking 4th and freshman Justin Mosher (78-ft, 9) in 5th, and Morey (154-ft, 3) and Feil (146-ft, 9.5) took the top two spots in the javelin, followed by senior Mitchell Butler (121-ft, 4.5) in 4th.
Both teams are back in action Friday afternoon at the Lock Haven University's Bald Eagle Classic.
