Wellsboro made short work of Williamson, shutting out the Warriors 26-0 in three innings on Saturday, May 11 to win their sixth game of the season.
"Good team win. Hopefully the offensive outburst will carry us through the remaining games in our season," said head coach Kyle Smith. "It was nice to see so many guys contribute at the plate today."
The Hornets wasted little time scoring 8 runs in the first inning. They added 14 runs in the 2nd then closed out the game with 4 runs in the third.
Senior Caden Smith went 4-for-5 with a double at the plate and scored 5 runs to lead the Hornets on the afternoon. Junior Gabe Sprouse was 3-for-5 with 2 runs, junior Ryder Bowen was 2-for-2 and drove in 2 runs, sophomores Cameron Owlett and Marek Mascho were both 2-for-3 with Owlett scoring 3 runs while Mascho added two, sophomore Dylan Copp went 1-for-1, and freshman Coen Tennis was 1-for-3 with an RBI and scored two runs.
Bowen, sophomore Jacob Heckman, junior Dustin Owlett, and freshman Max Mascho all scored twice on the afternoon while freshmen Izaya Campbell and Braxton Kerr scored single runs.
Smith went the distance one the mound, throwing a one-hitter with a walk and 3 strikeouts.
The Hornets improve to 6-11 overall and 5-8 in the NTL Large School Division. The team hosts Northeast Bradford for Senior Night on Tuesday.
