Hicks Fires Career-Best Round; Athens Claims Fourth Straight League Title

WAVERLY - Sophomore Eli Hicks fired a career-low round of 69 to lead Athens to its 21st consecutive NTL win, and its fourth consecutive league title here Monday afternoon at Shepard Hills Country Club.

"It's absolutely awesome to win our fourth straight NTL title," said Athens coach Lenny Pientka. "We have a good blend with two seniors - Dylan Saxon and Brady Darrow, who give us consistent golf and team leadership," he noted. "And, a good group of sophomores in Lucas Greninger, Eli Hicks ,and Collin Cogdon."

Birney earned an Associate's Degree in Journalism from SUNY Morrisville in 1986 and a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism / Public Relations from Utica College of Syracuse University in 1988.
