A goal by senior Annie Gehman off an assist from sister, and freshman, Lauren Gehman gave the Wellsboro Varsity Girls Soccer team a 1-0 victory on the road against Northeast Bradford on Wednesday, September 11.
Gehman scored with 7:25 remaining in the first period, and the Lady Hornets hung on the rest of the way.
"The Girls worked really hard today! Focusing on what we are teaching in training and putting into execution," head coach Jason Gehman said. "This freshmen class filled out 4 starting spots today and they are working well with our veteran players. Glad for the result and we are working towards more."
Wellsboro and Northeast Bradford both took 7 shots on goal and NEB had an 11-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Sophomore Jadyn Dunlap made all 7 saves in goal to record a clean sheet.
There was no JV game.
The win improves the Lady Hornets to 2-3 overall and 2-3 in the NTL standings. The team is back in action on Saturday morning against Hughesville.
