CANTON - With time ticking down in the fourth quarter and the game tied, Athens sophomore Connor Davidson was thinking just one thing - "no one can stop me." That was true much of the game, and it was true on their final drive as the Wildcats scored with 49.8 seconds to play to edge Canton, 48-42, in a wild NTL football game here Saturday at Miller A. Moyer Field.
"They showed me a lot today," said Athens coach Shawn Bradley. "We had every opportunity in the world to quit, and those boys didn't."
Athens had a total yardage advantage of 449 yards to 284, but the Warriors kept things even with their big special teams plays. The Warriors had four one-play drives that ended in touchdowns set up by big kick-off or punt returns, but they didn't have an answer for Davidson.
