Williamson Tops Wellsboro 22-3 In 4 Innings

The Wellsboro Lady Hornets suffered a 22-3 home-opening loss to Williamson on Tuesday, March 28.

Williamson jumped out to an early 5-0 lead after the first inning then added six more runs in the 2nd to put the Lady Hornets in an 11-0 hole. Wellsboro held the Lady Warriors scoreless in the 3rd and proceeded to get a run back in the bottom half of the inning.

Sophomore Lexi Urena led off the 3rd with a walk and later scored on a base hit by senior Molly Ingerick.

Williamson added 11 more runs in the top of the 4th to build a 22-1 lead. Wellsboro did manage two more runs before the game ended. With one out junior Caralyn Warner was hit by a pitch and senior Jordyn Abernathy singled. Both would score.

Abernathy, Ingerick, and senior Maddi Bordas had Wellsboro's three hits on the afternoon.

Urena started on the mound and went one and a third innings, allowing 11 runs on two hits with 7 walks and 4 strikeouts. Senior Rylie Boyce came on in relief, giving up 11 runs on 8 hits with 5 walks and a strikeout.

The loss drops the Lady Hornets to 0-2 (0-2 NTL Large School Division). The team is back in action tomorrow at Hughesville.
