Warriors Record 500th Win In Rout Of Athens

Canton scored 28 points to open up the game as they defeated Athens, 42-19, in NTL football action to earn their program’s 500th win.
Michael Davis had eight carries for 83 yards and two touchdowns, while Holden Ward had four carries for 78 yards and two scores. Ben Fitch ran the ball nine times for 83 yards and a score, while going 5-for-7 for 99 yards through the air.
Ward was his top receiver, hauling in two catches for 87 yards.
Davis led off the scoring with an 8-yard touchdown run, as Alexis McRoberts made it 7-0 with the PAT.
Ward then had a 38-yard rushing touchdown to make it 14-0 off a McRoberts kick. Ward followed that up with a 40-yard touchdown run, with McRoberts making it 21-0 by nailing the PAT.
A Fitch 7-yard run to open the second quarter made it 28-0 after a McRoberts kick.
Athens would answer that with a touchdown, but an Aydin Holcomb 78-yard kick-off return for a score would put the Warriors up 35-6 after the McRoberts kick.
Davis ended the quarter with an 18-yard rushing touchdown, with McRoberts making it 42-6 by hitting the extra point.
