Rival North Penn-Liberty defeated Wellsboro 11-1 in 5 innings on Thursday, April 6.
The Lady Mounties scored twice in the 1st inning, 5 times in the 3rd, 3 in the 4th and one in the 5th.
Wellsboro's lone run came in the 5th as junior Caralyn Warner singled to lead off the inning then later scored on a single by sophomore Lexi Urena. Those two hits were the only ones the Lady Hornets had all afternoon.
Urena went 3 innings on the mound, allowing 9 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits with 4 walks and 3 strikeouts. Senior Mariah Borden threw 2 innings, allowing 2 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits with a strikeout.
North Penn-Liberty also won the JV game, 4-0.
The loss drops the Lady Hornets to 0-5 (0-4 NTL Large School Division). The team is back in action on Tuesday, April 11 against Athens.
