Senior Peyton McClure was named the NTL Boys Tennis Player of the Year as the league released their all-star team on Wednesday, June 28.
In his first year of competition, McClure led the Hornets to an NTL title, the semi-finals of the District IV team tournament, and was the Hornets' top singles player, finishing 15-2 overall.
"Peyton had a phenomenal season," head coach Andy Borzok said. "He is highly athletic, determined, and coachable. The number one singles spot is obviously the toughest position to play, and it was a huge benefit for the team to be able to count on wins at that spot for virtually all of the matches that we played this year."
Also joining McClure on the team was junior Jacob Abadi. Abadi was a 1st team selection, compiling a 12-7 record.
The two also teamed up to go 2-1 in District doubles play, making it to the quarterfinals.
"Jacob really came on strong this year, especially during the second half of the season," continued Borzok. "He bumped up to the number two spot and won several long three set matches that helped earn team victories. I am really excited to have him around for one more season."
WellsboroAthletics.com would like to congratulate Peyton and Jacob for their all-star selections.
