The Wellsboro Varsity Volleyball team improved to 3-1 on the young season after a 3-1 non-league win over South Williamsport on Saturday, September 9.
The win was the Lady Hornets' third straight.
The Lady Hornets got off to a good starting winning the first set of the morning 25-17, but South rallied to win the second, 25-19. Wellsboro then went on to sweep the next two sets, 25-17.
Senior Meredith Brownlee led Wellsboro with 13 points, 10 kills, and 8 digs. Junior Arianah Lawton and sophomore Taylor Main scored 9 points each, junior Lexi Urena had 7 points, 12 kills and 7 digs, and senior Natalie Cleveland had 7 points and 13 digs. Freshman Blake Eckart also added 6 points and 3 kills.
Main also chipped in 10 assists, Lawton added 13 assists, and senior Olivia Chilson made 7 kills.
Wellsboro took the JV game to start the day winning 2-0, 25-12 and 25-10.
The win improves Wellsboro to 3-1 (2-1 NTL Large School Division). The team is back in action on Tuesday at Troy.
