A Lizzie Gorsline hat trick led the Athens Lady Wildcats in a 3-0 shut out over Wellsboro on Tuesday, September 5.
Gorsline scored just over two and a half minutes into the contest to put Athens up early. Her second goal came with 8:13 remaining in the first half after she cleaned up a save by Freshman Jadyn Dunlap on her missed shot to make it 2-0. Gorsline's final goal came with 5:52 left in the game.
Wellsboro was held to just two shot attempts, one by junior Carys Barlett and one by senior Sara Seeling.
Dunlap made 12 saves in goal in 71 minutes while junior Annie Gehman recorded a save in 9 minutes in goal.
Athens out shot Wellsboro 22-2 and had a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Athens also won the JV game 1-0.
Wellsboro (0-3, 0-2 NTL) is back in action on Thursday at Northeast Bradford.
