Lady Hornets Drop Second Straight League Game To Towanda

A 15-5 first quarter by the Towanda Lady Knights doomed the Wellsboro Lady Hornets in a 48-34 home loss on Wednesday, February 1.

There was no JV game.

Towanda outscored the Lady Hornets 15-12 in the second quarter to build a 30-17 halftime lead then outscored Wellsboro 12-10 in the third. The Lady Hornets outscored the Lady Knights 7-6 in the final frame.

Paige Manchester scored a game-high 25 points to lead Towanda.

Wellsboro was led by sophomore Chloe Brandenburg's 15 points. Seniors Ella Posada and Hailie Kerr, and junior Maddy Mascho all added 5 points and junior Emily Richardson and sophomore Paige Logsdon rounded out the scoring with 2 points apiece. Kerr and Brandenburg grabbed 6 rebounds each and Logsdon added 5, Posada made 2 assists and 3 steals, Richardson made 3 steals and an assist, junior Hannah Gilmour came away with 3 steals, and Mascho made a pair of assists.

Logsdon also blocked two shots.

The loss drops the Lady Hornets to 6-10 (6-5 NTL Large School Division). The team is back in action tomorrow night at Williamson.
