Junior High Track Teams Split With Canton

The Wellsboro Junior High Track teams split with Canton on Thursday, April 20.
The girls team won 89-20 while the boys fell 55-48.
For the girls Piper Hoprich (13.38) and Lauren Gehman (15.06) took the top two spots in the 100m, and Hoprich (28.02) won the 200m. Wellsboro swept the 400m with Isla Twoey (1:15.48), Bella Hawn (1:17.01) and Luna Moyer (1:18.13) taking the top three spots. Lauren Kosek (2:50.5) and Molly Tice (3:24.75) were 1st and 2nd in the 800m, and Kosek (5:50.36) and Jadyn Dunlap (7:50.37) were 1st and 2nd in the 1600m.
Twoey (19:43), Jennifer Belz (19.71) and Blake Eckart (19.85) swept the 100m hurdles, Gehman (4-ft, 10), Megan Newruck (4-ft, 4) and Hawn (4-ft, 2) swept the high jump, Gehman (14-ft, 0.25) won the long jump and the triple jump (29-ft, 10), and Aileen Bowers (25-ft) won the shot put and the discus (54-ft, 11).
Wellsboro swept both relays, winning the 4x100m in 56.17 and the 4x400m in 5:04.25.
In the boys meet Octavian Wyman (1:15.63) was 2nd in the 400m, Fen Moyer (3:03.49) and Jack Hammerton (3:27.13) swept the 800m, and Moyer (6:43.32) was 2nd in the 1600m.
The Hornets swept the 100m hurdles with Bradyn Benjamin (18.20), Colin Fletcher (20.04) and Stephen Tokarz (20.84) taking 1st through 3rd, Fletcher (5-ft) won the high jump, Wyman (13-ft, 7.75) won the long jump with Zander Rachiele (12-ft, 7.75) taking 3rd, and Fletcher (29-ft, 11), Benjamin (27-ft, 2), and Tokarz (25-ft, 10) swept the triple jump.
Rachiele (28-ft, 5) was 2nd in the shot put and 3rd in the discus (73-ft, 4).
Canton won the 4x100m relay in 57.87.
The team is back in action next Thursday at Williamson.
