Junior High Soccer Team shuts out Towanda

Wellsboro's Junior High Soccer team defeated Towanda 6-0 to start the 2023 season on Wednesday, August 30.

"We started off with some nerves but in the 2nd half composed ourselves and really started to find our groove," head coach Derek Stevens said.

The young Hornets started off with a pair of goals in the first half. The opening goal came from Bradyn Benjamin, assisted by Liam Stevens. The second was scored by Gabe Cuneo, unassisted from 22 yards out.

Wellsboro then turned up the heat in the second half with four more goals. Lauren Gehman scored the first goal of the 2nd half assited by Luna Moyer before Benjamin scored his second goal of the game, putting the Hornets up 4-0. Xavier Lecker made it 5-0 afterr converting a pass from Stevens, then Stevens added the game's final goal, assited by Madden Mascho.

Wellsboro (1-0) is back in action on Tuesday, September 5 at Athens.
