A day after their draw with Athens, the Wellsboro Junior High Soccer team edged out Williamson 3-2 on the road on Thursday, October 5.
"A great game from our players tonight after a tough game last night. We came out fast but it was a constant battle," said head coach Derek Stevens.
The Hornets took an early lead as Liam Stevens scored off from a feed from Gabe Cuneo at 4:04 to start off the match. Williamson got a goal to knot the score at 1-1, however Octavian Wyman found the back of the net with 7:50 left of the first half on a cross by Stevens.
Wellsboro finished off the half with Xavier Lecker scoring off from a pass from Lauren Gehman.
Williamson scored in the second half to cut the lead to 3-2.
Camden Bryant made 5 saves in goal.
In the B game, Wellsboro and Williamson tied 2-2. Hailey Smith and Logan Johnson scored for the Hornets.
Wellsboro improves to 10-0-1 following the win. The team is back on the field at Northeast Bradford on Monday.
