Wellsboro broke a two-game skid with a 56-30 rout of Wyalusing during Senior Night on Thursday, February 9.

"It was a good team win tonight on Senior Night, head coach Steve Adams said. "The three seniors have not only meant a lot to our program they have met a lot to me personally. Since they have been 6 we have been playing some sort of ball. Their parents have been great to work with and the kids are super coachable. I've been extremely blessed to coach these guys and watch them grow up to become great people. Words cannot truly express have much they mean to me. We have some great memories and are looking forward to building a few more. I wish them all the best."

What helped the Hornets was a huge 23-point third quarter. The Hornets built a 16-5 lead after the first and extended their lead to 28-12 after holding the Rams to just 7 points in the second.

In that 23-point third, Wellsboro hit 9 shots from the floor to put the game firmly in their control.

Three Hornets finished in double figures in the scoring column on the night, led by senior Peyton McClure with 17. Senior Conner Adams finished with 15 and junior Hayes Campbell added 12. Senior Cameron Brought added 7 and junior Caden Smith contributed 5. Brought pulled down 10 boards, Campbell grabbed 7 rebounds and made 3 assists, Adams made 7 assists and grabbed 6 boards, McClure made 4 assists, came away with 3 steals, and grabbed 4 rebounds, and Smith had 5 assists.

In the JV game Wellsboro won their second straight, topping the Rams, 45-28. Freshman Aaron Kirk scored a game-high 19 and freshman Luke Rothermel added 9.

The win improves the Hornets to 14-6 (12-3 NTL Large School Division), keeping them locked into the #2 seeds in both District IV Class 3A and for the NTL Showdown. The team is back in action Saturday evening against Loyalsock.
