The Wellsboro Varsity Baseball team fell 13-2 in their regular season finale to Shikellamy on Wednesday, May 17.
The Hornets took an early lead in the top of the 1st with a pair of runs. With one out freshman Marek Mascho drew a walk and scored as senior Cameron Brought singled. Brought later scored on a double by sophomore Gabe Sprouse.
In the bottom half of the inning the Braves scored 9 runs, then added one in the 3rd and 3 in the 4th to end the game early.
Wellsboro had 5 hits on the afternoon, one each by seniors Conner Adams, Blake Hamblin, and Brought. Sprouse and Mascho added the remaining hits.
Brought, Mascho and Hamblin split time on the mound, combining for 7 hits, 10 walks, and 3 strikeouts.
The Hornets finish the regular season with a 10-10 (9-6 NTL Large School Division) record and earned the 7th seed in the District IV Class 3A playoffs. They will travel to face Mount Carmel in the opening round on Saturday, with the first pitch scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
