Wellsboro suffered a 65-3 loss to Canton in NTL wrestling action at home on Wednesday, December 20.
Canton won 11 of the 12 bouts on the evening, 7 of them coming via pin fall, 3 via forfeit, and one tech fall.
Wellsboro's lone win of the match was recorded by junior Ryder Bowen, as he scored a 16-10 decision over Leland Pepper at 172 lbs.
In the Junior High match, Wellsboro defeated Canton 36-24 to improve to 2-1 on the season. Mason Greene started the match with a 21 second pin over Robert Barnes at 80 lbs., followed by a Taitt Webster forfeit victory at 87 lbs. Vincent Arena defeated Grant Jennings at 108 lbs. with a 29 second pin fall. After four straight wins by the Warriors, the Hornets later secured the match as Lance Starkweather, Logan Stevens, and Dennis McIntyre picked up three forfeits in their respective weight classes at the end.
The Hornets fall to 2-7 overall and 0-3 in the NTL. The team is back in action tomorrow at the Wildcat Duals.
