The Wellsboro Varsity Girls Basketball team won their second straight game, and their first in 11 calendar days as they topped Wyalusing 41-22 at home on Monday, January 24.
The Lady Hornets jumped out to an 11-3 lead in the first quarter but the Lady Rams were able to cut the lead to five at 20-15 as they outscored Wellsboro 12-9 in the second quarter. Wellsboro answered with an 8-3 run in the third quarter and outscored the Lady Rams 13-4 in the fourth.
Senior Emma Coolidge led all scorers with 16 points and freshman Paige Logsdon added 10. Freshman Chloe Brandenburg and sophomore Maddy Mascho scored 5 points each, senior Emma Brandenburg and junior Ella Posada scored 2 points each, and sophomore Emily Morris rounded out the scoring with a point.
Olivia Leichliter led Wyalusing with 11 points.
Wellsboro won a shortened JV game 19-16 to improve to 7-4 on the year. Morris led Wellsboro with 7 points.
The win improves the Lady Hornets' record to 6-6 (5-3 NTL Large School Division). The team is back in action on Wednesday, January 26 at Northeast Bradford.
