The Wellsboro Varsity Softball team dropped their regular season finale to Williamson on Saturday, May 14.
Williamson jumped out to an early lead with 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st. The Lady Hornets tied the game up later in the top of the 3rd, only to have Williamson plate 10 more runs in the bottom of the 4th to lead, 13-3. The Lady Hornets held Williamson to just one run over the final two innings, and put up 8 runs, 4 in the 5th and 6th to cut the lead to 14-11 but were unable to complete the comeback.
The Lady Hornets had 11 hits on the day, led by junior Rylie Boyce, who went 3-for-4 with a double and a triple. Junior Madaline Bordas and freshman Paige Logsdon both went 2-for-4, with Logsdon hitting a double, and junior Molly Ingerick, seniors Emma Coolidge and Abbye Cavanaugh, freshman Alexandra Urena and junior Jordyn Abernathy all added solo hits. Boyce, Urena, and junior Mariah Borden all split time on the mound, combining for 8 hits and 9 walks.
Wellsboro ends their season at 7-13 (4-11 NTL Large School Division).
