After taking the first set against rival North Penn-Liberty, the Wellsboro Varsity Volleyball team fell 3-1 on Tuesday, October 18.
The Lady Hornets edged the Lady Mounties 26-24 in the first set then Liberty swept the next three, winning 25-18, 25-15, and 25-20.
Junior Natalie Cleveland led Wellsboro with 11 points and 23 digs while sophomore Lexi Urena had 10 points, 6 kills, and 17 digs. Senior Emily Starkweather and sophomore Paige Logsdon both scored 7 points. Starkweather added 8 kills and 16 digs while Logsdon finished with 10 kills and 12 digs. Senior Maddi Bordas recorded 25 assists and 12 digs, junior Meredith Brownlee added 10 kills and 10 digs, and junior Olivia Chilson chipped in 2 kills, a block, and a dig.
North Penn-Liberty also won the JV game 2-0 (25-21 and 25-17).
The loss drops the Lady Hornets to 10-9 (7-5 NTL Large School Division). The team is back in action on Thursday, October 20 at Loyalsock.
